According to media reports, BYD Semiconductor recently issued a price increase notification letter to its customers, stating that the company has decided to adjust the prices of IPM and IGBT single-tube products starting from July 1, 2021, with an increase of not less than 5%, starting today In-transit and unpaid orders are executed at the new price.
Due to the global shortage of chips and the imbalance between supply and demand in the semiconductor industry, a large number of chip manufacturers have announced price increases, such as TSMC, UMC, SMIC and so on.
It is said that the reason for BYD Semiconductor’s price increase is due to market changes, upstream capacity constraints and supplier price hikes, resulting in rising product costs, and the original price cannot meet supply demand.
Therefore, BYD decided to increase the above-mentioned products in order to ensure the continuous supply of products after considering the appropriate circumstances.
It is worth mentioning that BYD has previously decided to spin off BYD Semiconductor to go public on the GEM.
According to public information, BYD Semiconductor is a new semiconductor supplier, mainly engaged in the R&D, production and sales of power semiconductors, intelligent control ICs, smart sensors and optoelectronic semiconductors, covering the sensing, processing and control of electrical, optical, and magnetic signals.
BYD Semiconductor mainly produces automotive-grade semiconductor products such as IGBTs, SiC MOSFETs, IPMs, MCUs, CMOS image sensors, electromagnetic and pressure sensors, LED light sources, and automotive LED displays. Last year's revenue was RMB 1.441 billion and net profit was RMB 58.632 million.
